Our Story
What does Assuage mean?
The definition of Assuage is to soothe or calm; to lessen the intensity of something that pains or distresses.
Having worked as a Massage Therapist for the past 20 years, I can't tell you the number of times I have heard from clients that their own personal self care falls to the bottom of the priority list.
Here at Assuage, our core belief is that taking care of yourself is an essential part of your overall well-being. It isn't indulgent, it is a welcomed priority. Allow yourself to carve out time in your day to be the sole focus. Addressing those aches and pains before they start to scream is a proactive approach to keeping your mind, body, and health in balance.
Allow us to assuage your body’s discomfort as you take the time to for yourself…Calm Mind - Healthy Body!
We are here for you.
The Creation of Assuage
Some of my fondest childhood memories are of summers spent at my Grandmother's house in East Chezzetcook; The lazy days of summer filled with beach combing and exploration of all that nature had to offer. Neighbours that would stop by for a cold beverage and friendly conversations.Fun church picnics filled with laughter and a real sense of community.
No matter how far I have traveled and explored there is truly no other place in the world like this wonderful little community. It has always held a special place in my heart and I have always been drawn back, almost like an internal compass leading me home.
I knew someday I would come "home" and sure enough, I did. I have been working as a massage therapist on the Eastern Shore for 10 years now. During this time, it has been wonderful to become reconnected to all of the things that I treasured as a child; the beautiful scenery, the friendly people and a real sense of community.

I wanted to share the significance of the feather that appears in my logo.
The feather came to me in a photograph by Lynda Mallett
This beautiful image resonated with me and I knew I wanted it to be part of my design.
While looking for images on the internet I came across
"Angel Feathers"
It is a symbol of acknowledgement that something in the spirit world is looking out for you, keeping you safe and empowering you to whatever path you set upon. If you see a feather your angel is near and they are reminding you that, with them, you are safe. I am thinking that my Mum and Grandmother, who are no longer physically with us, are always walking along side of me.
